Competition: The Culinary World Cup

Piggybacking on the excitement surrounding the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, the Culinary World Cup was designed to appeal to competitive nature of cooking enthusiasts whilst showcasing Australia's rich migrant food culture. The SBS Online was asked to submit their favourite recipes the best 12 were chosen to be tested and photographed. The audience was then asked to vote for the best submission, with each audience member given the opportunity to vote once per day.
The submission period took place from 27 May to 15 June 2010 and the voting period took place from 21 June to 12 July 2010. More 250 recipes were submitted, over 10,000 votes counted and the competition attracted more unique browsers than the website of our main on-air food program during the same period.
